Less than a month ago, IHOP has opened its first restaurant here in the Philippines. Since then, everyone seems to be wanting to have a taste of one of the best breakfast joints in the US.
Our family has been a fan of IHOP. It’s true what they say that they serve the ultimate comfort food, especially if you like breakfast like myself. Although there has been several negative feedback about the resto here from blogs that I have read, those did not stop me from trying it out for myself.
Despite the long lines that I always read about, we were #4 on the list. Not bad from 50 plus that others got. After about 5 minutes, we were called and sat on a window-side table on the 2nd floor.
For starters, I opted for the Never Empty Coffee Pot – Decaf (P125). I was able to consume the whole pot all to myself. Spenda and Equal sachets helped a lot since I am watching my sugar intake. Chino had refillable Freshly Brewed Iced Tea (P95) since he is not into coffee.
Their signature pancake syrups are also ready on the table. Old Fashioned, Butter Pecan, Blueberry and Strawberry. These will get you excited to get your hands on the pancakes. 🙂
They have a vast selection of breakfast meals on their menu, you can even customize them to your liking. As for me, I ordered what I usually get when we go to IHOP before: the Breakfast Sampler (P395).
The breakfast sampler came with 2 pcs of buttermilk pancakes but you can upgrade it to any flavored pancakes for only an additional P50. That is what I did, I switched mine to Strawberry Banana Pancakes. ❤ IHOP did not disappoint me. This is the same fluffy pancake that I know. Bananas and strawberries are served cool and goes well with the Strawberry syrup. Don’t be deceived though, there are also banana and strawberry slices between those pancakes. Yum! I also want to commend on how well the hash brown was fried. Not too dry and not too oily, just perfectly brown and crisp! The sausage links are good too as well as the sliced ham. And the bacon? How can you go wrong with bacon? 🙂 All in all, this is heaven on a plate!
Chino had the Split Decision Breakfast (P325). Instead of hash brown and ham, it includes two triangles of french toast. He did not upgrade his pancakes which made him able to try all the syrup flavors. I think he enjoyed them. 🙂
Yes, it is a bit pricey for breakfast and we had to go all the way to The Fort from Cavite. But the travel, wait and cost are all worth it. Exaggeration aside, if you want comfort food, good breakfast and nice ambiance, you just need to go to IHOP. I’ll come back here anytime! 🙂
