Here’s a restaurant in Mall of Asia that you usually pass by but never really thought of trying. And since it was Chinese New Year the other day, we have decided to try a Chinese resto that we have not tried before.
According to reviews, this place nailed the taste of HongKong; I wouldn’t know because I’ve never been there ๐ So I’m going to base this review from my inner foodie lol
We arrived at the mall early and went for lunch at Xin Wang HongKong Cafe. The place is spacious with good lighting and huge Chinese decors hanging from the ceiling. As soon as we sat, we have been presented the menu with very overwhelming choices! I think there’s a hundred items in there, everything looked delicious making it hard to decide! >.<
So we tried the basics: dimsum of course! For me, a Chinese meal is not complete without siomai hehe (P110), plus the deep fried wanton sounds good too (P100).
For main, we had the HK Braised Beef Brisket Bamboo Rice (P225). That is steaming hot rice topped with saucy beef served in a bamboo shaft. I like this one but the beef to rice proportion is off so I had left over rice which rarely happens. hehe sssshhh
The XW Signature Fried Rice (P225) is something heavy. It has bits of crab sticks, dried fish and shrimp in a bed of fried rice that can serve 3 persons. This is a good pair with any dimsum item though.
But my favorite among this meal is the Prawn Paste Chicken (P245). 5 pieces of chicken fillet deep fried with prawn paste coat, yes that is bagoong! ๐ It’s a little salty but goes well with some sweet chili sauce. This is a must try if ever you will try to dine at the resto!
For dessert, my niece’s pick is the Watermelon and Jelly Paradise (P100). This one is refreshing too but I’m still intrigued by their flavored shaved ice. ๐
Verdict: I’m surprised that this place doesn’t seem popular considering they have good food which I have only known today. So, Chinese New Year or not, I recommend to try here if you are craving for good yet affordable food. ๐
